John van Beek was born in The Netherlands and came to New Zealand when he was four years old. He lived at Lake Tekapo for the last 15 years. John is a self taught artist with a country background and fencing experience.
Frost and snow make it difficult to garden in Lake Tekapo. In 2008 Jan van Beek decided to make wire sheep, barbed wire balls and rustry wire trees to with stand the harsh conditions. Turning rusty or galvanised wire - and barbed wire - into affordable sculpture. |
