The CBC story begins in Ventura, California in 2001, where a team led by renowned boat builders Mark Turner and Tim Smyth constructed the International America’s Cup Class yachts USA 71 and USA 76 for ORACLE TEAM USA’s 2003 America’s Cup challenge.
Over the following decade, CBC built all of ORACLE TEAM USA’s yachts, including USA 17, the 90 x 90 foot ‘space age’ trimaran which won the 33rd America’s Cup in February 2010. With its towering 223 foot fixed wing sail, USA 17 is the fastest boat in the history of the America’s Cup and opened the door to a new era in America’s Cup racing.
During the construction of USA 17, CBC was based in Anacortes, Washington, where our team worked closely with Washington-based Janicki Industries, a leader in precision tooling for composite manufacturing, particularly for the US aerospace industry. CBC also collaborated with aerospace giants Boeing and Lockheed Martin.
